This no-frills 4-mile run follows the same fun course as the duathlon, covering a mix of road, paved bike path, and well maintained dirt trails. The run-only events will be offered on December 1st and on February 23rd (Sorry - there is no 4-miler offered at our January event). The December 1st run will begin promptly at 10:00am. The Run-Only wave of the February 23rd race will begin at 10:20am. Packet pick-up on both dates will close at 10:00am. This is a no-frills event - we don't do awards or shirts, but we do have some yummy goodies afterwards, and we will be awarding sponsor merchandise to random finishers at the finish line. All races will be chip-timed. Races will be contested regardless of conditions - and if the weather warrants we may change the distance or course, so no grumbling - this is all about having fun in the winter. Be prepared for dry roads and trails, but also be prepared for knee-deep snow! The Duathlon SeriesThe Chilly Cheeks Duathlon Series is composed of 3 events - each with a different format. Each race is comprised of approximately 4 miles of running on paved roads, bike paths, and dirt trails. There will also be approximately 10 miles of paved cycling in each race. Keep in mind, this is a winter event, and although the entire bike course is paved, there may be snow, sand, and/or ice along the route. This website will be updated approximately 2 days before each event (no emails will be sent) with the course conditions to assist you in choosing your bike and shoes for the event. The photos on this page will give you an idea of the variety of conditions you may experience in this series. Races will be contested regardless of conditions - and if the weather warrants we may change the distances, course, or format of the race accordingly, so no grumbling - this is all about having fun in the winter. The events are low key and fun!!! We have two FREE Duathlon Training Guides that you can download from our website to take your training a step further. The first plan, like the Chilly Cheeks Series, is a low-key approach to duathlon training. It basically gives you the guidelines, and you take it from there. The second is a more structured approach to training. You fill out a series of worksheets, and come up each day's workouts for the whole season! Want More Info??? Click Here!!!
