Race Course
START: How do we start, when everyone is doing something different? That's the most frequently asked question we receive! It's really quite simple. Runners, Cyclists, and Swimmers line up in three separate groups just outside the transition area. When the start siren goes off, swimmers run down to the water's edge and start their swim, cyclists pedal down the road, and runners sprint for the bike path. The race has begun!!!
SWIM: Swimmers will complete a 750 Meter triangle-shaped swim in the crystal-clear Aurora Reservoir. The run from the transition area to the water's edge is about 150 meters, and the water temperature is typically be in the low-70's on race day. FAQ - Why can't people who start with the swim start at the water's edge: Participants who start with the swim must do this 150 meter run to the water to keep things fair for everyone. All other orders must complete this run, so it makes sense that those starting with the swim would do so as well.
COURSE MAPS: Course Overview ; Run Detail
BIKE: The 14 mile bike course is a rolling out-and-back route which leaves the reservoir and travels east on Quincy to a wide turn-around point. Drafting is not allowed on the bike course, and motorcycle marshals will be enforcing this rule.
RUN: We designed a fun new 3.5 mile run course which keeps runners separate from cyclists. The run course is completely closed to traffic and follows a mix of paved bike paths, dirt roads, and well maintained wide gravel running paths. Most paved bike paths have a soft-surface dirt path which runs alongside the pavement. The new course is rolling and scenic.
Aid Stations There will be two aid stations on the run course, serving ice Cold Water and HEED energy drink. One will be located shortly after exiting transition, and the other will be located at the half-way point in the run.
Spectators on Bike Route
For the safety of the participants, we ask that all spectators avoid driving out onto the bike course during the race. There will be plenty of action near the transition and finish areas all morning long. If our course marshals feel that a spectator causes an unsafe condition on the bike route, the participant(s) that they are supporting will be disqualified from the event.

Someone Will Win This Smokin' Ride
from Campus Cycles!!!
Everyone who enters the 2009 My Way or the Tri Way will be entered into a drawing to win this Orbea Ora tri bike, courtesy of our presenting sponsor, Campus Cycles. TRAINING CLINICS
FastForward Sports will be conducting two multisport training clinics for all ability levels, from beginner through middle of the pack and experienced athletes.
The March 28th clinic will focus on open water swimming skills in the comfort of an indoor pool and the swim-to-bike transition for triathletes. For duathletes, the March 28th clinic will focus on the run and the run-to-bike transition.
The second clinic will take place on April 11th and will focus on the bike and the run and on the bike-to-run transition for all athletes.
During these clinics, we will work together to "Learn the Ropes." From how to pace yourself, to the tricks of a quick transition, to learning open water swim skills, to the workouts that will make you a better duathlete or triathlete, these clinics will present valuable information vital to your success as a multisport athlete.
CLICK HERE for detailed clinic information. You can sign up for either of both clinics when you register for the My Way or the Tri Way, or you can register for the clinics separately.

Timing & Results
My Way or the Tri Way will be timed using the state of the art AMB ChipX system. AMB systems have been used to time all stages of the Tour de France, the Olympic Triathlon and Marathon, and the ITU Triathlon World Championships. Overall results, with times for each leg as well as transition splits, will be posted at the event, and on this website on the afternoon of the event.
Each participant will receive a timing chip on race morning. The chip is attached to a soft comfortable neoprene and Velcro strap. This is to be worn on your left ankle with the Velcro securely fastened. We recommend that you wear it under your wetsuit to avoid the possibility that it gets pulled off during the swim, or when you remove your wetsuit. You must be wearing your timing chip to receive split times and finish time. Timing chips must be returned at the finish line following the race or you will be charged the $97 replcement cost. If you decide to withdraw from the race, please stop by the finish area to return your chip before you leave.
