2014-2015 Winter Running Series
Welcome to the 2014-2015
The Racing Underground Winter Running Series returns in 2013-2014, with three amazing runs at three unique venues! The races are geared toward all ability levels, with a family-friendly atmosphere, discounted youth entries, and $3,400 total series prize money for the top finishers!
Participate in one, or all three races. Discounted series entries are available for both the 5K-5K-5K series or the 5K-10K-Half Marathon series, and inexpensive youth (age 12 & under) entry fees are offered for all 5K runs!
Each race features gender specific technical running shirts, and youth 50/50 T's, tasty post race food, steaming hot cocoa, Jill's famous home baked banana chocolate chip bread, and a sponsor gear drawing that's worth sticking around for!!!
The series kicks off with the Superior Stocking Run, a festive 5K in the town of Superior on December 1st. The race is limited to 1,000 entrants, and all participants will receive a race stocking loaded with sponsor goodies and a jinglebell bracelet you can wear during the run. How fun is that!
Race number two is the popular Yeti Chase 5K & 10K at Bear Creek Lake Park in Lakewood on January 26th. This is the 4th year for the Yeti Chase, and it has sold out well before race day in all previous years. After chasing down the Yeti, runners wander the park's 2,500 acres, known for it's diverse bird and waterfowl population as well as stunning views of the foothills.
The series finale comes at the Ralston Creek Half-Marathon & 5K in Arvada on February 9th. The Ralston Creek Half-Marathon has sold-out in all previous years, establishing itself as Colorado's premier winter half marathon. The Ralston Creek 5K Run round's out our 5K series, with a flat and fast course! Both race courses follow a scenic mix of road and bike path through Arvada's beautiful west side.
We hope to see you at the second annual Racing Underground Winter Running Series!

Once accepted, entry fees will not be issued for any reason. You may transfer your full series entry to another runner for a $10 fee until 7 days before the first event. No transfers will be allowed fewer than 7 days before the event. No refunds will be issued if the race is shortened, postponed, or cancelled due to weather.
Point Standings & Series Awards
Series points will accumulate in overall and age-group categories.
Cash awards will be presented to the top-3 overall male and female point winners in the 5K-10K-Half Series in the amount of $250, $150, amd $100. Merchandise awards will be presented to the top-3 overall male and female point winners in the 5K-5K-5K Series.
In addition, series awards will be presented to the first place male and female point winners in each 5-year age group starting with 20-24 in both series. Youth awards for the 5K-10K-Half Series will be presented in the 19 & under category. Youth awards in the 5K-5K-5K Series will be awarded in the 12 & under division, and the 13-19 division. Overall award winners will be excluded from age group awards.
Awards at each event will be based on each runner's age on race day. Series points, however, will be based on each runner's age on December 1st (the date of the first series race) to avoid the possibility of someone changing age groups during the course of the series.
Overall points will go to the top ten male and female finishers in each race as follows: 20-16-14-12-10-9-8-7-6-5. Age group points will be earned by the top-10 male and female finishers in each age group following the same point breakdown.
Overall point winners will also earn age group points, however the final overall winners will be excluded from winning age group awards. You must earn points in at least 2 series (in the same series) events in order to be eligible for series awards. Overall series prize winners must also earn Overall Points in at least 2 events (earned with a top-10 overall finish) to be eligible for a series award.
Points are not transferable between 5K-5K-5K Series and 5K-10K-Half series, and you cannot win a series award in more than one series. Stocking Run points will count toward either series.
In the event a runner qualifies for a series award in both series, that runner will accept the award in the 5K-10K-Half Series, and will forfeit the award in the 5K-5K-5K Series. All ties will be broken by place in the Ralston Creek event. If none of the tieing athletes participated at Ralston Creek, the tie will be broken by place in the Yeti Chase.
Points will be considered final at midnight on the third day after each race. If you would like to request a correction to the results or series points, the request must be made prior to this deadline.
