4th Annual Racing Underground
1.2 Mile & 2.4 Mile
Open Water Swim
Saturday September 1, 2012
Boulder Reservoir - Boulder, Colorado
Put this one on your calendars! Racing Underground will be hosting our fourth annual long-course open water swim at the Boulder Reservoir on Saturday September 1st.
Swimmers can choose from 1.2 mile and 2.4 mile options. There will be a mass start at 7:00am, however the start line will be open until 7:15am for those swimmers who would rather not start with a group. Swimmers will have until 9:30am to complete their swim.
This swim can be as competitive or non-competitive as you'd like. All participants will be chip-timed (from their individual start to their individual finish), and results will be posted throughout the morning, as well as on our website on the afternoon of the event.
Food and music will follow the swim. Awards will not be presented for finish places - instead we will hold a sponsor merchandise drawing for everyone!
Pre-registration for either distance is just $20 through August 15th and $25 thereafter. Online registration closes at 5pm on Friday August 31st. Race-day registration is $30. Your entry fee includes chip timing, park entry, a safe course, good food, and a chance to win some great merchandise prizes.
COURSE: The swim course will be a large rectangle, which you will swim in a counter-clockwise direction. The course will be marked with large 5' diameter orange buoys. One lap of the course is 1.2 miles. You may swim 1 or 2 laps. You may switch your swim distance, however you do need to let us know that you have switched so we can list you correctly in the results. You will not come out of the water between laps - the 2.4 mile swim is a continuous swim. CLICK HERE FOR A COURSE MAP
Swim Course closes at 9:30am.
All swimmers must be out of the water by 9:30am.
No one will be allowed to start a second lap after 8:30am
DIRECTIONS & PARK ENTRY: The Boulder Reservoir is located on 51st Street in Boulder. 51st Street is located just west of the intersection of the Diagonal Highway and Jay Road. Turn North on 51st and drive approximately 1 mile. The Reservoir entrance will be on your right. Participants will be admitted to the reservoir free of charge. Spectators will still need to pay the standard reservoir gate fee. Spectators NEED to pay the required fees, as they will be counting at the gate, and we may be forced to take payments at the gate again in the future if this is abused.
