Race Rules

The Big Sky Duathlon celebrates its 15th anniversary with a new spectator friendly course, at an exciting new venue! Join us at Dick's Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City for the kickoff to the 2014 Mile High Duathlon Series, which opens the Colorado multisport season in style!!!

The Mile High Duathlon Series has moved to the springtime in 2014, to avoid a conflict with the busy summer triathlon schedule. The series is also sanctioned with USA Triathlon in 2014, so you can now earn points toward your national ranking!

Whether you are a beginner, trying multisport for the first time, an established duathlete peaking for the series, or a triathlete getting in a pre-season tune-up, the Big Sky Duathlon and Mile High Du Series is a great choice!

Race Course

The Big Sky Duathlon will treat you to a flat and fast early-season course, that is 99 percent closed to motor vehicles. This is a great spectator venue, with plenty of close in parking immediately adjacent to the transition area.

4K (2.5 mile) Run Course: MAP The run course is a single-loop course, almost exclusively on a well maintained crushed-gravel running surface. It is a gently rolling loop through the Prairie Gateway Open Space, with spectacular views of the Front Range foothills and the snow-capped continental divide! The first run will go clockwise around the loop. After the bike, you will run the same loop in a counter-clockwise direction.

12 Mile Bike Course: MAP The 12 mile bike course is a 3 lap course that is completely closed to vehicular traffic. Riders will have a full lane as they head out of Dick's and onto the closed lanes on Quebec to a single turn-around point that is 5 lanes wide! This is an extremely spectator friendly course, allowing spectators to gather at the loop start and finish just a 1 minute walk from transition and the race start and finish lines.

Transition: MAP

Aid Station There will be one aid station at approximately the midpoint of the 4k run loop.

Relay Teams will receive 1 timing chip which must be transferred from runner to biker and back to runner. This exchange will take place at a designated area within the transition near the bike-in/bike-out location. Timing chips are attached to a soft, comfortable Velcro strap which must be worn on the ankle.

Participants will start in waves of approximately 75 participants at 5 minute intervals beginning at 9:00am. Waves are assigned by age group or division. Your age is based on your age on December 31, 2014. You must start in the wave designated on your race number.
