Athletes will not be allowed to win in more than one category, and cash winners will be excluded from age-group awards.
AGE GROUP: Awards will be presented to the top three finishers in each 5-year age group. Overall and Masters cash winners will be excluded from the age group awards.
Beginning in 2006, triathlon rules state that your race age is determined by your age on December 31st of the race year. Your age-group for awards will follow this rule.

Awards will be presented to the top-3 Clydesdale and Athena finishers. Clydesdale and Athena finishers will not be eligible for age-group awards.
RELAY TEAMS: The top-3 relay teams in Male, Female, and Coed divisions will receive awards in the triathlon. A Triathlon team consists of 2 or 3 participants.
There is no pro category or elite category for this event, however pro and those who choose to register as elite competitors will all start together in Wave-1 and will be eligible for overall cash awards. Pro and elite competitors will not be eligible for age group awards.
You must be present to claim your award, or have another participant pick it up for you. Unclaimed awards will not be mailed.

TRANSITION: You asked, we listened! We have redesigned our transition for 2010 so there will be less running with your bike! Our new set-up is Sweeeeeet!
SWIM: Swimmers will complete a 750 Meter triangle-shaped swim in Cherry Creek Reservoir, starting and finishing on the sandy beach adjacent to the West Shade Picnic Area. The start will be in waves which will be posted at packet pick-up locations and on our website 1 week before the event. Water temperature in the reservoir in September is typically in the sixties, so wetsuits are encouraged.
BIKE: The 11.5 mile bike course is predominantly flat, with one hill located at approximatey 5 miles into the ride. Drafting is not allowed on the bike course, and motorcycle marshals will be enforcing this rule.
RUN: The 5K (3.1 mile) run course is a loop course on a mix of road, bike path, and well-maintained non-technical dirt running trail.
Aid Stations There will be two aid stations on the run course, serving ice Cold Water and HEED energy drink. One will be located shortly after exiting transition, and the other will be located at the half-way point in the run.
Relay Teams will receive 1 timing chip which must be transferred from swimmer to biker to runner. This exchange will take place at a designated are within the transition near the bike-in/bike-out location. Timing chips are attached to a soft, comfortable Velcro strap which must be worn on the ankle.
Spectators on Bike Route
For the safety of the participants, we ask that all spectators for the Crescent Moon Triathlon avoid driving out onto the bike course during the race. There will be plenty of action near the transition and finish areas all morning long. If our course marshals feel that a spectator causes an unsafe condition on the bike route, the participant(s) that they are supporting will be disqualified from the event.

Timing & Results
The Crescent Moon Sprint Triathlon will be timed using the state of the art AMB ChipX system. AMB systems have been used to time all stages of the Tour de France, the Olympic Triathlon and Marathon, and the ITU Triathlon World Championships. Overall results with swim, bike, run, and transition splits will be posted at the event, and on this website on the afternoon of the event.
Each participant and relay team will receive a timing chip attached to a soft comfortable neoprene and Velcro strap. This is to be worn on your left ankle with the Velcro securely fastened. We recommend that you wear it under your wetsuit to avoid the possibility that it gets pulled off during the swim, or when you remove your wetsuit. You must be wearing your timing chip to receive split times and finish time. Timing chips must be returned at the finish line following the race or you will be charged the $97 replcement cost. If you decide to withdraw from the race, please stop by the finish area to return your chip before you leave.
