Well, TriVids has taken race photography a step further, and is now offering personalized videos that include footage of you in action!

The final event in the Chilly Cheeks series was fortunate to be chosen as a beta-test for this great new service, and TriVids is offering Chilly Cheeks participants the opportunity to order their own personalized video for free!

With the snow, ice, and cold we experienced on race day, you'll definitely want to share the experience with your friends and family. Yeah, they already know you're nuts for doing all of this stuff, but why not show them how nuts you REALLY are.

Here are a few Sample Videos from the race. From here, just click the "Order Your Video" button to get your own FREE personalized video.

Race & Entry Information

Denver's low key, low cost multisport winter series!!!

The Chilly Cheeks Winter Duathlon series is composed of three bare-bones events at the Cherry Creek Reservoir. We provide a marked and marshaled course, accurate timing, light refreshments, and some fun mid-winter competition in the heart of Denver. Enter one race, or all-three - it's up to you.

No, you won't a t-shirt or a gourmet meal - but you won't be out the big bucks either. Register for all three duathlons by January 1st and get a pair of Chilly Cheeks Sweat Pants - perfect for pulling on post-race or for lounging around the house. These were a big hit last year, so they're back for the 2009/2010 series! Entry Fees go up starting 10-12 days before each event, and again on race day, so please try and register ahead of time. As you can imagine, our data entry person hates typing loads of entries in the cold!

Bib and timing-chip pick-up will take place on race morning only beginning at 8:00am. Race day registration will also be available at this time if space is available.

Awards will be presented for the overall series only. There will be two divisions - Fat-Tire and Open, with 3 age categories for men and women in each division: 39 & under, 40-49, and 50 & over. (Sorry, no relay teams).

If you enter the Fat Tire Division, you must ride a mountain bike or Hybrid with a minimum tire width of 1.90. If you enter the Open Division, you may ride whatever type of bike the weather and course conditions dictate.

Sometimes it's sunny and dry

Remember, this is a winter event, and although the entire bike course is paved, there may be snow, sand, and/or ice along the route. This website will be updated approximately 2 days before each event with the course condition to assist you in choosing your bike and shoes for the event. All race information will be posted to this website - no email updates will be sent.

Sometimes it's snowy and grey

Races will be contested regardless of conditions - and if the weather warrants we may change the distances, course, or format of the race accordingly, so no grumbling - this is all about having fun in the winter.

New: 4 Mile Run-only Option!

New this season, we will be offering a 4 mile run option in addition to the duathlon. This no-frills 4-mile run follows the same fun course as the duathlon, covering a mix of road, paved bike path, and well maintained dirt trails.

The run-only events will be offered on December 12th and on February 20th (Sorry - there is no 4-miler offered at our January event). The December 12th run will begin promptly at 10:00am. The Run-Only wave of the February 20th race will begin at 10:20am. Packet pick-up on both dates will close at 10:00am.

The entry fee for the 4 mile run is just $15 if you register early! Entry fees go up to $20 approximately 10-12 days before each event, and are $25 on race day.

This is a no-frills event - we don't do awards or shirts, but we do have some yummy goodies afterwards, and we will be awarding sponsor merchandise to random finishers at the finish line. All races will be chip-timed.

Races will be contested regardless of conditions - and if the weather warrants we may change the distance or course, so no grumbling - this is all about having fun in the winter. Be prepared for dry roads and trails, but also be prepared for knee-deep snow!

The photos on this page will give you an idea of the variety of conditions you may experience in this series.

TRAINING PLANS

The Chilly Cheeks Winter Duathlon Series is a great way to get ready for the 2009 Mile-High Duathlon Series. The events are low key and fun!!! We have two FREE Duathlon Training Guides that you can download from our website to take your training a step further. The first plan, like the Chilly Cheeks Series, is a low-key approach to duathlon training. It basically gives you the guidelines, and you take it from there. The second is a more structured approach to training. You fill out a series of worksheets, and come up each day's workouts for the whole season!
