Wiggins will once again be the site of the final race in the Mile-High Duathlon series! Those who competed here last year will certainly remember the town's wonderful hospitality - as well as the great post-race breakfast!!!
Wiggins was formerly the site for the Wiggins Duathlon, and gained quite a bit of notoriety when Duathlon King Kenny Sousa struck a cat during the bike race and crashed, breaking his collar bone. The cat, luckily, emerged unscathed!
That was the last year for the original 5K run, 10 mile bike Wiggins Duathlon, but we revived it in 2000 with a new 5K run, 30K bike, 5K run format. The new course featured two flat 5K runs, separated by a 30K paved bike course that traversed the farmlands of rural Colorado.
The new format was a hit! So bring your running shoes, your bike... and your appetite for the second annual Cabbage Head Duathlon and Breakfast!!!
Mile-High Duathlon Series
The Mile-High Duathlon Series is made up of three duathlons designed to challenge the hard-cores, while remaining user-friendly enough for the first-timer. All three events are within an easy 30 minute drive from Denver, yet all offer the rural atmosphere you can only get on the eastern plains.
The series kicks off in May with the Barkin' Dog Duathlon, followed by the Big Sky Duathlon in mid-June, and our final race, the Cabbage Head Duathlon, on June 30th. A terrific awards breakfast will follow the Cabbage Head Duathlon!
For the guys up front, there will be $2,000 in series cash up for grabs. There will also be an age-group series, with awards for series point winners.
And New This Year!!! There will be a special series-end raffle for athletes who have entered all 3 series events.
This series is the best value in multi-sport. Enter all 3 series events by April 27th and pay only $80 for individuals of $119 for relay teams. This is a $16 savings over pre-registering for each race individually!!!
