With the snow ending in the early morning hours on Thursday, I chose not to make the 2.5 hour trip to the park, knowing that there would be some snow on the park roads but conditions would be totally different on race day. Instead, I will post a conditions report on Friday evening once the sun, cars, and warmer temps have done their thing. Watch the Racing Underground Facebook Page for an update on Friday evening.

Directions and Parking: The event will start and finish at the Hobie Hill area, near the West Entrance to the park. From I-25 Take Exit 199 (Belleview) and turn East on Belleview. Drive approximately 1.5 miles to Dayton (there is a stoplight). Turn left on Dayton and drive approximately 0.5 miles. The park entrance will be on your right. Parking will take place at the Hobie Hill parking lot.

Once you are inside the park, signs will direct you to the Hobie Hill lot. Once Hobie Hill has filled, additional parking will be available at the Marina, just 200 yards beyond Hobie Hill. Parking is not allowed in any other locations within the park.

PLEASE DO NOT drive or park in the grass. You will be ticketed and you will jeopardize our ability to hold the race in the future. Please do not stop on the road or off the road to unload your bike and gear. Doing so will violate a condition of our permit. If you are seen doing either of these things, you will not be permitted to race. Please park in a designated parking space and unload once you are parked.

All vehicles entering the park will be charged an $11 park entrance fee. This is a per-vehicle charge, so car-pooling is encouraged. Vehicles displaying a valid Colorado State Parks annual pass will not be charged.

If there is not an attendant at the gate, please use the credit card kiosk near the entrance station. Park rangers may ticket any vehicle not displaying a paid receipt or annual park pass.

Course and Race Info: Saturday's duathlon starts with a 10.8 mile bike ride, with groups of approximately 5 bikers going off every 1 minute. The start line is located on the road above transition. Start groups are randomly seeded to avoid drafting and packs on the bike course. Following the bike ride, duathletes will complete a 4 mile run on park roads, trails, and bike paths.Headphones are not allowed on the run or the bike.

Run-Only participants will start their race at the run finish line with a mass start beginning at 10:20am. The course will be the same 4 mile loop as the duathletes will run. Run-only participants will have a disposable timing chip on the back of their bib number. There is no need to return the disposable chips.

Duathletes will wear an ankle chip on a comfortable neoprene strap. These chips will be in your race packet and should be worn on your left ankle. Volunteers will collect your timing chip at the finish line.

Please pay attention to race rules while cycling:
1 - Helmets must be on and buckled at all times while on the bike
2 - Ride on the right edge of the road, except to pass. No crossing the yellow line for any reason
3 - No headphones
4 - No drafting (leave at least 3 bike lengths between your front wheel and the rear wheel of the bike ahead of you except when passing)
5 - No side by side riding
6 - Follow the directions of course marshals, especially when in the turn-around at the far end of the course
7 - Have fun, be friendly, thank our volunteers!
